CALIFORNIA CERTIFIED SMALL BUSINESS (20557)

Term: Through March 2009

The State of California seeks to create procurement environment where small businesses may effectively compete with major, dominant suppliers – and thereby maintain a rich, diverse community of suppliers of IT equipment and services. For example, Small Business Certified firms are encouraged to participate in state IT initiatives by receiving preferential scoring on bids (5% not exceeding $50,000) in order to off set the economy of scale pricing of larger suppliers.

Benefits to the Agency:

Some agency internal procurement procedures incorporate specific quota objectives to incorporate small business. Contracting with "Small Business Certified" firms allows the agency to claim credit towards achieving these stated objectives.
